Papers in the PEDS `Methods’ section describe at least one method or approach that is of broad interest to the field of protein engineering, design, and selection. They include a sufficiently detailed technical description in their Materials and Methods section for the method to be followed by a scientist in the field who is not previously familiar with it. Such papers may additionally include point-by-point protocol for general use that will be linked with the main paper in the PEDS table of contents.

peds methods is for scientists who wish to comment on, discuss, amend, and correct papers that appear in the PEDS `Methods’ section. All `Methods’ papers that appear in PEDS are uniquely associated with this peds methods online discussion forum. It is intended that this will allow methods and protocols to be imporved as they evolve in due course, a revised paper in PEDS may result. On publication their title and authors, with links to the abstract and paper itself, will appear in this section. Scientists are invited to submit their comments for publication in peds methods here. All contributions will be moderated by the peds methods editor, whose decisions about publication are final.
