Stature
We do not work in isolation; in fact we play a leading role within the industry, helping to shape the future of journals publishing.
Our staff are involved in many industry projects including: CrossRef, COUNTER (setting standards for usage statistics), NISO/EDItEUR (working party on serials subscription standards), ONIX for serials, COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), and many others.
We are participants in a number of archiving projects (e.g. LOCKSS and the Andrew W Mellon Foundation’s e-Journal Archiving Project).
Alongside our financial objectives, and of equal importance, are our objectives for quality of information and dissemination. To this end, we were particularly pleased to have been amongst the first publishers to make our online content freely available to over 60 of the world’s poorest countries.
