Instructions to Authors

Articles and comments published in the Bulletin do not normally exceed 1,200 words. Authors are requested to submit items on disk, preferably in Word 2000, or as email attachments. Please do not use a computerized footnote programme. Articles, comments and notices should be styled in accordance with the MHRA Style Guide (available from Maney Publishing, Hudson Road, Leeds, LS9 7DL). A note of guidance for authors may also be found on the website of French Studies (http://fs.oxfordjournals.org/for_authors/default.html). Articles and other material should be submitted to the Editor: Dr Owen Heathcote, Department of Languages and European Studies, University of Bradford, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD7 1DP (O.N.Heathcote@bradford.ac.uk; tel: (+)44(0)1274 234623; fax: (+)44 (0) 1274 235590).

In reaching a decision to accept articles for publication, the Editor will consult with independent expert readers. Contributors receive free of charge two copies of the Bulletin in which their article appears.

Copyright. It is a condition of publication in the Journal that the authors grant an exclusive licence to the Society for French Studies through Oxford University Press. This ensures that requests from third parties to reproduce articles are handled efficiently and consistently and will also allow the article to be as widely disseminated as possible. As part of the licensing agreement, authors may use their own material in other publications provided that the Journal is acknowledged as the original place of publication, and Oxford University Press as the Publisher.

Funding

Details of all funding sources for the work in question should be given in a separate section entitled 'Funding'. This should appear before the 'Acknowledgements' section [update as appropriate]. The following rules should be followed: the full official funding agency name should be given, i.e. ‘National Institutes of Health’, not ‘NIH’; grant numbers should be given in brackets; multiple grant numbers should be separated by a comma; agencies should be separated by a semi-colon; no extra wording like 'Funding for this work was provided by ...' should be used; where individuals need to be specified for certain sources of funding the following text should be added after the relevant agency or grant number 'to [author initials]'. An example is given here: ‘National Institutes of Health (CB5453961 to C.S., DB645473 to M.H.); Funding Agency (hfygr667789).’
