LAW, PROBABILITY & RISK IN THE COURT ROOM
On the 6th July 2006, a Law, Probability & Risk article by Professor D. H. Kaye was used in the court case People v. Wilson, No. S130157, 2006 WL 1843153 (Cal. July 6, 2006).
The murder case presented a narrow, but important, question regarding the admissibility of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) evidence to prove identity in criminal prosecutions and its statistical significance. The California Supreme Court opinion in this case [Wilson] relied extensively on the Kaye article.
