Database Description

ParameciumDB is a new model organism database for Paramecium, built using components of the Generic Model Organism Database ( construction set (Chado relational database schema, Turnkey generic web framework and Gbrowse). The database currently includes the genome sequence and annotations from the sequencing project at Genoscope ( and genetic data (RNAi, stocks). It is possible to query the database using gene, allele or stock names, annotation or phenotype key words, or by browsing certain tables. The database is designed to optimize integration of sequence and genetic data.

Recent Developments

We are continuing to develop ParameciumDB by introducing complex queries, including more computational analysis data, and developing forms to allow database users to propose their own RNAi or stock data for inclusion in the database.

Paramecium tetraurelia genome sequencing and annotation were carried out at the Genoscope-CNS in Evry France.
