Database Description

Rubber is produced from the latex of the Hevea brasiliensis Mueller (Arg.) tree, the most widely cultivated plant for the commercial extraction of natural rubber. NRESTdb (= Natural Rubber EST Database) is a database which serves as a molecular resource for functional genomics of the rubber tree. The database contains latex-derived edited EST sequences which have been analysed using the StackPACK ver. 2.2 (Electric Genetics Corporation) software pipeline. The main components of NRESTdb consist of a repository of 9,896 phred-edited EST sequences and 3,198 unique transcripts derived from craw/phrap assemblies, a compilation of functional annotations based on BLAST and on GO, KOG and Inparanoid nomenclatures, analytical datasets related to important rubber research areas, search tools to facilitate user navigation and interfaces for data query and analysis. The components are highly integrated to facilitate user navigation and data retrieval.
