Oxford Journals partners with Waldo to offer collection to members

20 October 2008

Oxford Journals is pleased to announce that they have signed an agreement with the Westchester Academic Library Director’s Organization (WALDO) to enable many more US researchers to access the Oxford Journals Collection.

WALDO’s agreement with Oxford Journals gives their 500 participating institutions in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Vermont the option to subscribe at a specially discounted price to a package of around 200 peer-reviewed titles.

The Oxford Journals Collection, which spans six subject areas (Medicine, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences), contains some of the world's most prestigious titles, including JNCI (Journal of the National Cancer Institute), Brain, Human Reproduction, European Heart Journal, and English Historical Review.

“We really value our partnership with WALDO, and urge their member libraries to take up our offer, which will enable many more American researchers to access our top-quality research,” commented Roland Ehrenfels, Sales and Marketing Director for Oxford Journals. “We look forward to continuing to work with the US library community to ensure that as many US researchers as possible can benefit from our peer-reviewed collection.”

“The Oxford Journals fit perfectly into the WALDO strategy to provide our member libraries with access to high-quality, full-text resources,” commented Robert Karen, WALDO Director of Member Services. “The excellent journals included in the Oxford Journals Collection are an integral part of our online offerings, helping to provide our patrons with the quality research they’ve come to expect at WALDO libraries.”

The agreement has immediate effect and is valid until the end of 2009. Institutions who take up the offer will be eligible to access the Oxford Journals Collection dating back to 1996.
