European Journal of Echocardiography changes name and focus

8 June 2011

The European Journal of Echocardiography is changing its name to European Heart Journal – Cardiovascular Imaging, and broadening its focus to include all areas of cardiovascular imaging. This change reflects the increasing importance of these imaging modalities to everyday medical practice. The first issue of the new journal will publish in 2012.

Editor-in-Chief Gerald Maurer said: “The new publication will move from a technique-driven approach toward a patient and problem driven approach. All imaging techniques have strengths and weaknesses and a decision on which to use, or when to combine them, should be based on what’s best for the patient. The journal will aim to provide a forum for research and education in the field of cardiac imaging as it relates to clinical practice; thus the first issue will already include state-of-the-art papers and reviews in addition to original research.”

The journal accepts submissions from all areas of cardiovascular imaging, including echocardiography, magnetic resonance, computed tomography, nuclear, and invasive imaging. The journal aims to publish research of the highest quality in a range of formats: original research articles, reviews, case reports, editorials, image focus, letters, and recommendation papers from relevant groups of the European Society of Cardiology.

European Heart Journal – Cardiovascular Imaging is a monthly, international, peer-reviewed journal of the European Society of Cardiology. Its editorial team includes Senior Associate Editors and editorial board members from the European Association of Echocardiography, the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance working group, and the Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT working group but will also include other working groups and specialties.
