Applied Statistician/Biostatistician Position
ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences, Inc. has an immediate opening for an applied statistician or biostatistician in the Epidemiology and Health Surveillance Section of the Occupational and Public Health Division.
Applicants should have the following qualifications:
•  Doctoral level degree in Statistics or Biostatistics, or Masters level degree with some doctoral studies and/or extensive experience.


• Work experience in analysis and interpretation of health data strongly preferred, experience in data management and systems preferred.
• Candidates should be able to demonstrate a record of excellence in research and leadership in their field, including publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Prior experience and expertise is required in one or more of the following areas: use and development of statistical methods and regression modeling of cohort, case control and cross sectional data; pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling, analysis of time series data (e.g. air toxics data analysis), analysis of data on genetic environmental interactions, especially with single nucleotide polymorphisms, Bayesian statistics as applied to health/toxicity/exposure data, life table and survival analyses, analysis of animal bioassay data. Use of various packages such as SAS, Stata, R, MathCAD, is preferred.
• Excellent communication, writing, and teamwork skills are essential.


Job Responsibilities: This is a staff position with opportunity for technical advancement. The candidate will be expected to participate individually and in teams in a variety of research and consulting activities. These activities include statistical advice on the conduct of surveillance and focused studies, appropriate use of data, review of literature to understand potential health effects of products and operations, participation on multi-disciplinary issue teams, and interactions with others in industry, government, and academia to advance applications of statistics in occupational and public health research and risk assessment. There will also be statistical based activities with other researchers in various related technical fields such as epidemiology, toxicology, environmental science, and atmospheric science.
