Food Microbiologist &bull Food Safety Epidemiologist
Two Assistant/Associate Professor positions, tenure-track, 100% research. Center for Food Safety, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of Georgia, Griffin, Georgia (www.ugacfs.org).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Each successful candidate will develop a research program in the area of food microbiology or food safety epidemiology and contribute to outreach programs of the Center for Food Safety.

Research on methods for detecting and controlling foodborne pathogenic microorganisms will be the focus of the microbiology prram. Research on identifying risk factors contributing to foodborne illnesses and public health interventions for mitigating foodborne disease will be the focus of the epidemiology program. Securing extramural funding for research and recruitment and advising graduate students will be expected. In addition to developing his/her own research program, the successful candidates will be expected to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff and with industry personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  A Ph.D. in Food Microbiology, Food Science (with an emphasis on Food Microbiology), Epidemiology, or closely related fields will be highly desired. Experience with microbial genetics would be advantageous for the microbiology position. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
