Travel awards

Rheumatology invites applications for the Rheumatology Young Researcher Travel Awards. The aim of the Awards is to encourage travel to European conferences that may not otherwise have been possible, thereby supporting rheumatology research throughout Europe. The Awards are open to clinicians who hold a training post in rheumatology or are non-clinical scientists researching an aspect of rheumatic diseases but have not yet secured a tenure-track (permanent) position. They are open to individuals who present their work at an international scientific meeting, outside the country in which they work. The applicant must send a full copy of their abstract together with confirmation of acceptance from the organisers and may be asked to provide a written report of the meeting they attend.

There are three deadlines for applications each year:

  • 1st March
  • 1st June
  • 1st November

All applicants will be notified of the committee's decision four weeks after the deadline. Details of the winners of the Awards will be published in Rheumatology.

Applications will be considered for travel to European rheumatology meetings including:
• British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) annual meeting
• The Annual European Congress of Rheumatology (EULAR)
• European Workshop on Research in Rheumatology (EWRR)
• Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PReS)

However, they are not available for a national meeting within an applicant's own country (for example, a UK applicant can not apply to go to the BSR annual meeting which is held in the UK).

There will be three Awards per annum and each Award will be for €2000.

Applicants should complete the application form and submit it to the Rheumatology Editorial Office
