About the Journal

Since 1971

JJCO was established in 1971 as the first journal from Japan to publish clinical research on cancer in English. It was a biannual journal for the first 11 years, and as the number of submissions increased, it became quarterly in 1983 and bimonthly in 1991. Since 1998, the JJCO has been published monthly.

International Journal

It has been indexed in Index Medicus and MEDLINE since 1983, and approximately 60% of the submissions come from outside Japan. Since Oxford University Press (OUP) became our publisher in 1997, JJCO has a sister-journal relationship with the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. The current impact factor for JJCO is 1.316

Online Journal

JJCO is available online from Volume 1 Issue 1 up to the most recent issue. Articles become freely accessible 6 months after publication. (Pre-1996 volumes are archival volumes and will require separate subscription.) Print version of the journal is also available. Financial support

The JJCO had been published upon full financial support from the Foundation for Promotion of Cancer Research to assist dissemination of Japanese research. Due to success in establishment as an international journal, it has now become independent of sponsorship.

National Cancer Center (NCC), Tokyo

The NCC has played a central role in managing the journal. The successive Editors-in-Chief have all been presidents of the NCC, and the majority of the associate editors are related to the institution.
