The GenomeAtlas Database contains information about sequenced microbial genomes, including chromosome maps which visualise various DNA structural properties as colour-coded lanes. The genomes are organised in the three "SuperKingdoms" (Bacteria, Archaea, Eukaryotes) as well as Organnelle and Viral genomes. Currently, there are more than 200 prokaryotic chromosomes in the database. The list of chromosomes can be sorted by the Organism's name (Genus species), taxonomic group, percentAT, length, number of genes, number of tRNAs and rRNAs, and by the date it was published. Additional tables are available presenting information about DNA periodicity, sigma factors, AT content biases, gene prediction quality, and replication origins for each genome. Finally, for each chromosome, there are links to seven different DNA atlases which display various structural aspects of the DNA sequence.
This work is funded by grants from the Danish Research Foundation and the Danish Center for Scientific Computing.
